For more than a month, the officials of Islamic University (IB) have been agitating for 16-point demands, including relaxation of conditions for admission for the offspring of the university's staff.

The agitators did not allow the acting registrar of the university, HM Ali Hasan, to participate in the syndicate meeting today, Monday (September 4), to prevent him from taking administrative action to collect the demands.

Yesterday, Sunday (September 3), they blocked him from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

It is known that the 261st syndicate meeting of the university was held at 4 p.m. yesterday. Acting Registrar HM Ali Hasan is expected to participate as member secretary.

Meanwhile, the agitators had been on a five-hour strike since July 26 to fulfill their demands. However, due to non-payment of demands, they are observing a complete strike starting Saturday, according to the decision of the special meeting of the Fair Rights Implementation Committee.

Officials are instructed not to participate in administrative work in the implementation of the program. As part of this, the agitators occupied the Registrar's office of the administration building at 3:30 p.m. so that the Registrar could not participate in the Syndicate meeting.

They surrounded the office and held a sit-in until the meeting was over. Later, when the syndicate ended, the protestors lifted the blockade after about two and a half hours, around 6 p.m.

In this regard, the convener of the Fair Rights implementation committee and the president of the Officers' Association, A T M Emdadul Alam, said, We have started the movement for an indefinite period for fair demands. The administration accepts the demand but does not take any steps to implement it. Finally, we saw that our just demands would not be realized without a systematic movement. As August is the month of mourning, we did not have any strict programs then. Now we have taken a continuous strike. No officer-employee shall take part in the work of administration until the demands are fulfilled as part of the program. Due to the syndicate meeting that was held today, we have moved the officials and employees associated with it.

Regarding the sit-in, the acting registrar of the university, HM Ali Hasan, said that the officials did not allow me to participate in the syndicate meeting. They surrounded my office and blocked it. So that I do not attend the syndicate meeting.
